High Street, Armadale [In Planning]

This mixed-use project is situated in Armadale, on one of inner Melbourne’s most prestigious shopping strips. Set amidst the fashion boutiques, cafes and multicultural dining of High Street, it comprises five levels of residential accommodation, ground floor restaurant and retail, along with two levels of sub-basement car parking.

Concentrated around the retention of the heritage facades, the ground floor approach utilises a porte cochere entrance to activate the vehicle entrance to the site.

Influences by window framing details, the development uses large precast hood moulds to break up the visual bulk of the project. The second element to which cues were derived, is that of the cornice.

As seen in many Edwardian facades, this element expresses the horizontals of the project by using an extruded detailed form to create banding on the building facade.

935-951 High St will be a development with consideration for sustainable environmental impact. The development will maintain a gas free status, whilst offsetting energy use with solar energy production. Being adjacent to public transport, the development encourages the occupants to consider other means of transport outside of cars.
